Hypertension

1. What is hypertension?

Hello dear friends, I am your TCM friend, Dr. Zhang, and today I am talking to you about what is hypertension?

Theoretically speaking flowing blood, which has a consistently higher than normal pressure value on the walls of blood vessels, is called hypertension.

When measured with a sphygmomanometer, systolic blood pressure is higher than 140mmHg (including 140mmHg) and diastolic blood pressure is higher than 90mmHg (including 90mmHg), that is hypertension.

In our country, there is about one case of hypertension in every three adults.

President Zhang Yuqin's tip: Essential hypertension is a controllable but lifelong treatable disease.

Treatment is mainly through lifestyle improvement and drug therapy to control the condition.

Hypertension is a common disease and there are significant differences in diagnosis and treatment for different categories of hypertension. Therefore, it is important for friends with hypertension to understand their blood pressure type and to treat it in a targeted manner.

2. Hypertension classification

Dear friends, hello, I am your TCM friend Dr. Zhang, today I am talking to you about the classification of hypertension, which type of hypertension are you? First of all, let's go by

(1) Blood pressure level classification (Chinese guidelines for the prevention and treatment of hypertension)

Category Systolic blood pressure Diastolic blood pressure

(mmHg) (mmHg)

Normal blood pressure & lt;120 & lt;80

Normal high blood pressure 120 to 139 80 to 89

Hypertension & gt;140 & gt;90

Grade 1 hypertension (mild) 1401599099

Grade 2 hypertension (moderate) 160,179 100,109

Grade 3 hypertension (severe) ≥ 180 ≥ 110

Simple systolic hypertension ≥ 140 & lt;90

(2) Classification by etiology

Primary hypertension: accounting for about 90% of hypertensive patients, the cause of the disease is not clear, this kind of hypertension is called primary hypertension, symptoms in addition to the symptoms related to hypertension itself (headache, dizziness, etc.), long-term hypertension may also become an important risk factor for a variety of cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases, and affect the function of some important organs such as heart, brain, kidney function, and ultimately may also lead to the failure of these organs.

Secondary hypertension: accounts for about 5-10% of patients with hypertension. The cause of hypertension can be identified, and the elevated blood pressure is a clinical manifestation of certain diseases, called secondary hypertension. As the disease gets better, the blood pressure will also drop.

Friends can follow the above classification of hypertension, compared to which type of hypertension they are, targeted treatment, so as not to delay the disease.

3. What are the dietary principles for friends with hypertension?

Hello, dear friends, I am your TCM friend, Dr. Zhang, and today I am talking to you about what are the dietary principles for friends with hypertension?

The dietary principles for friends with high blood pressure mainly include the following.

(1) less salt, less salt in cooking, less pickles, canned food, salted fish, etc., which contain relatively high salt content, the daily salt content of friends with high blood pressure should be controlled at less than 6 grams.

(2) eat less oil, usually eat less high-fat diet, such as fried food, fatty meat, animal offal, etc., and some shelled nuts, such as: peanuts, walnuts, pistachios, melon seeds, etc. Are foods with high oil content, pay attention to eat less.

(3) Eat more fruits and vegetables, such as: apples, pears, pineapples and other fruits, green leafy vegetables such as celery, spinach, etc. Are rich in potassium ions, through food supplementation of potassium can help reduce blood pressure.

(4) moderate amount of food containing calcium, such as drinking more milk, yogurt, etc., regular consumption helps to improve blood calcium, and calcium supplementation also helps to lower blood pressure.

Although diet is a very common thing, eat every day, but eat well is not simple, I hope that friends with hypertension, eat level, eat healthy.

4. Why do people with high blood pressure eat less salt?

Dear friends, hello, I am your Chinese medicine friend Dr. Zhang, some of my friends asked me why patients with high blood pressure eat less salt. Today I would like to talk to you about this topic.

Hypertension is one of the common cardiovascular diseases. Patients with hypertension eat less salt, which is good for blood pressure control:.

(1) Because less salt is consumed, less sodium chloride is ingested into the body, which prevents the patient's body from retaining water and sodium in the body for a long time, which can cause the blood pressure to rise.

(2) If patients consume too much sodium they are prone to thirst. After patients drink more water, water and sodium are stored in the body for a long time and blood circulation is poor, which can easily lead to an increase in blood volume in the patient's blood vessels, making the blood pressure in the vessels increase and causing blood pressure to rise.

(3) Part of the patients are salt-sensitive hypertension, high salt intake can cause blood pressure to rise, and limiting salt intake can lower blood pressure.

If you know this, you will pay attention to eating salt reasonably, and usually control the salt intake to keep your blood pressure at a normal level to ensure your health.

5. Where is all the invisible salt hidden?

Hello, dear friends, I am your TCM friend Dr. Zhang. Today I will talk to you about what people with high blood pressure need to pay attention to, not only to eat less salt.

Friends with high blood pressure should not only eat less salt, there are some invisible salt also need to eat less, such as pickled mustard, soy sauce, soy sauce or ham, etc. Below I will introduce the higher salt content of pickled mustard and you, below is the information I have compiled for you, please refer to it.

Hypertension | Zhang Yuqin Science Lecture

President Zhang Yuqin warm tip: northern friends love to eat salty vegetables in winter and dipping sauces in summer, eating too much of these things is the same as eating more salt, which is not good for blood pressure control, we should develop good habits of low fat and low salt.
